§1

1.1 The competition is open to organic chemistry research subjects, within two separately evaluated levels, including:

- Masters student and graduating student of  2024,

- participants of Doctoral Schools,

1.2 Participation in the competition does not involve any application fee from the competitor.

 

§2

 2.1 Competition application shall be made by registering on the website (www.360.us.edu.pl)

2.2 The competition application includes the completion of the application form, along with the mandatory attachments:

- abstract of the research

- opinion of the scientific supervisor or promoter along with his/her consent to participate in the competition as well as consent to the possibility of posting the participant's multimedia presentation on the competition website.

- information on scientific achievements (10 achievements from the last 5 years including: publications, monographs, patents, patent applications, scientific conferences, awards, etc.),

2.3 The deadline for submitting applications to the competition is October 31, 2024 (11:55 p.m.)

2.4 On the basis of the submitted applications, the Competition Committee will evaluate the Candidates and select the finalists of the competition.

2.5 Information on qualification for the finals will be announced on the competition website (www.360.us.edu.pl) as well as sent by e-mail to the e-mail address provided during registration.

2.6 Participants qualified for the competition final will be asked to present the assumptions and results of their research in the form of a "360 second multimedia presentation", during the final session of the competition.

2.7 The final session shall be held at one of the following venues:

- Faculty of Chemistry, Silesian University of Technology, Priest Marcin Strzody 9, 44-100 Gliwice

- Institute of Chemistry, University of Silesia in Katowice, 9 Szkolna St., 40-006 Katowice

- Institute of Organic Chemistry, PAS, Warsaw, 44/52 Kasprzaka St., 01-224 Warsaw,

- Institute of Organic Chemistry, Department of Chemistry, Technical University of Lodz, 116 Żeromskiego St., 90-924 Łódź,

2.8 The exact place and schedule of the final will be announced at www.360.us.edu.pl no later than two weeks before the scheduled final.

2.9 The announcement of the final results of the competition will take place during the award ceremony for the winners on the day of the final.


§3

3.1 The Chairman of the Competition Committee is a member of the IPC PAS or the Board of the Katowice Branch of PTChem. Other members of the Commission shall be appointed by the Chairperson of the Organic Chemistry Section of PTChem from among researchers with the academic title of professor or postdoctoral degree representing various specialties of chemical sciences and various scientific centers.

3.2 At the qualification stage, when evaluating applications, the Commission takes into account, among other things:

- the novelty and degree of innovation of the research topic undertaken,

- demonstrated scientific achievements (publications, patent applications, patents or participation in scientific conferences),

- opinion of the scientific supervisor of the conducted research or thesis promoter,

3.3 The Commission selects the Award Winners in two categories: Student and Doctoral Student. In addition, the Commission has the option to award honorable mentions in each category.

 

§4

4.1 The contest will be decided in two categories:
- for the best male or female masters student,
- for the best male or female doctoral student.
